Step 1 of 8
Build a detailed estimate, phase by phase
Add phases to match how the job actually runs — Strip Out, First Fix, Decoration. Inside each phase, line items cover every cost type: Labour Material Subcontractor Plant Waste Travel. Quantity times rate builds the running total automatically.

LabourPlastering£520£742.86
Your costs stay hidden. The sell price column is what you charge the customer. What you paid for materials or labour never appears on the quote.
Step 2 of 8
Set your margin — and the sell price calculates itself
Drag the margin slider to your target. Every sell price across every line item updates instantly. The sidebar pill turns green when you're hitting your target, amber when you're close to the edge, red when you've gone under. No more confusing markup with margin and undercharging by accident.

Markup vs margin — not the same thing. A 30% markup on £100 cost gives you £130 sell — but that's only 23% margin. Onsite Companion works in true margin, so when you set 30% you actually keep 30p in every pound you charge.
Step 3 of 8
21 job templates — load all items or just tick what applies
Pick a job type and the app fills in a full skeleton estimate. Two modes: load every item for a complete job, or tick only the phases that apply to this particular site. Either way it's a starting point to edit, not a form to fill in from scratch.

Tick what applies
Never start from a blank page again. A bathroom refit loads Strip Out, First Fix, Tiling, Second Fix, and Decoration — all pre-populated with typical items. Delete what doesn't apply, adjust quantities, done.
Step 4 of 8
One tap to a professional customer quote
Switch to the Quote tab and Onsite Companion generates a clean, branded document showing the customer their price — nothing else. Your costs, rates, and margins are never visible. VAT breaks out automatically when you're VAT registered. Valid for 30 days with a materials clause built in.

Your company details auto-fill on every quote. Name, phone, email, and VAT number are stored once and appear on every document you send — no retyping each time.
Step 5 of 8
Raise an invoice straight from the accepted job
When the customer says yes, flip to the Invoice tab. All the figures carry over — nothing to retype. VAT breaks out automatically. When the money arrives, tap the status badge to mark it as paid. Outstanding invoices feed directly into your P&L dashboard.

Every invoice feeds your dashboard. Revenue, outstanding balance, and Output VAT totals update automatically — useful when your VAT return is due.
Step 6 of 8
A week-by-week programme, generated from your estimate
Set a start date and Onsite Companion maps every phase automatically. Override any duration and everything downstream shifts. Long-lead reminders flag what needs booking ahead — scaffolding, structural steel, bi-fold doors, Building Control — before you've lifted a tool.

Tap any reminder to mark it as booked. The list clears as you work through it — so nothing gets missed because it was written on a scrap of paper in the van.
Step 7 of 8
Variation orders — kills "I didn't agree to that"
Log the extra work on site, price it, and send the customer a link. They approve or decline from their phone — no app needed on their end. Every change order stays logged against the original quote, so scope creep is visible to both sides and disputes disappear.

No app needed on the customer's side. They get a link, tap approve or decline, and that's it. The decision is timestamped and attached to the job permanently.
Step 8 of 8
Reports, P&L, and your business dashboard
Filter your P&L by tax year, quarter, or a custom date range. Summary cards show Revenue, Cost, Profit, Margin %, Jobs Won, Invoices Paid, Outstanding, and Output VAT — everything you need for a VAT return or an end-of-year conversation with your accountant. Export to CSV in one click.
